Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs bundles of 8-10 courses that allow students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while getting their high school diploma. Specialist High Skills Majors let students in Grades 11 and 12 focus on a career path that matches their skills and interests while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Arts & Culture
The SHSM program in Arts and Culture gives students specialized, hands-on, practical learning experiences in various areas of the arts and culture sector. the arts and culture SHSM may be customized to have a distinctive emphasis on art, music, dramatic arts, or digital arts. The program involves the practical and theoretical application of dramatic and performing arts, music, visual art, photography, media and communications technology.
Architecture & Engineering
The Construction: Architecture and Engineering SHSM provides students with an opportunity to develop theoretical, practical and technical skills that have a focus on architecture and engineering. With science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) being at the forefront of education and the skill set developed with these courses being in high demand by employers, students in the Architecture & Engineering SHSM will be better prepared for post-secondary programs and future careers in the construction sector.
Non-Profit
The SHSM program in the non-profit sector enables students to build a foundation of knowledge and understanding in an effort to enhance community-mindedness. Whether in the fields of art, culture, education, the environment, information technology, health care, social development, or sport, countless career paths are available for people who share the sector’s common vision: to make a difference. This SHSM encourages students to acquire skills and consider principles that relate to civic action, social justice, humanities, and community development.
